Designing a Scalable Discovery Feature to Drive Repeat Engagement
I led the launch of a newsroom platform that transformed Viatris’ static site into a structured content discovery system. The goal was to increase repeat engagement by making policy updates, research, and company initiatives easier to find and navigate. I designed modular templates and a scalable content structure that translated into a CMS driven publishing system, enabling internal teams to manage and expand the platform over time.
Key Decisions
At the design stage we validated the IA through content audits, journey mapping, and qualitative feedback. After launch, success was measured through behavioral signals like navigation flow, content depth, and repeat visits to confirm discovery improved.

Stakeholders were initially hesitant to separate larger updates into individual entries, concerned it would create more work. However, bundling initiatives together had reduced clarity and made content harder to find. Working closely with teams, we introduced a consistent publishing structure aligned to company priorities, making updates easier to manage in the CMS while improving content discoverability. Tag filtering added an additional layer of navigation, helping users find relevant updates and encouraging return visits.

The homepage newsroom module surfaced timely updates and created a clear starting point. Keyword and tag filters helped users quickly find what mattered to them, guiding them into the full newsroom feature and encouraging repeat visits.
The newsroom hub transformed fragmented updates into a structured discovery layer, organising content by recency, type, and region. Tag-based filtering enabled users to quickly narrow information to what mattered to them, improving clarity, depth, and repeat engagement.
The article layer transformed standalone updates into structured journeys, using clear hierarchy and related content modules to guide onward exploration. This improved content context and directly increased time on page and session depth.
Results
